Newton and Noss Village Hall is situated in Noss Mayo a village in the civil parish of Newton and Noss in the South Hams district of south-west Devon, England, about 10 miles south-east of Plymouth. The village is tucked away on the southern bank of the Yealm estuary about a mile from the sea.
Across the water is the larger village of Newton Ferrers, and you can get between the two villages in summer by a ferry that operates a triangular route and calls in at the SW Coastal Path, Wembury, Noss Mayo and Newton Ferrers. Newton Ferrers is also a very short walk at low water across the ‘Voss’, a causeway path across the creek.
Both villages are very picturesque and have friendly and lively communities. The estuary itself is bordered by mature woodlands that hug the water’s edge, much of the surrounding area is owned by the National Trust. The estuary itself is also great for sailing and if you’re an angler, the fishing is excellent.
In addition the area has the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) designation, and the estuary is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a European Special Area of Conservation, lying within the South Devon Heritage Coast.
The area is blessed with many walks that meander along the waterside and take in the stunning coastal vistas along the 19th-century Revelstoke Drive. From these dramatic cliffs you can spot rare birds including the cirl bunting and follow the paths down to secluded coves, like Cellars and Warren beaches. To the north Dartmoor's high tors and open countryside beckon those who love wild country. The city of Plymouth with its shops, Marine Aquarium and Barbican quayside area is just 10 miles away.
